Chandler’s Ford-based accountancy and business advisory practice HWB Chartered Accountants has bolstered its team of registered auditors, which is pivotal to it attracting more audit jobs.
The Hampshire firm now has six so-called Responsible Individuals (RIs) on the board of directors covering audit services – one of the largest proportions of RIs for a professional services firm of its size in the south.
“Having so many RIs strengthens our ability to provide the audit services our clients need and within the timescales they want,” said RI Michaela Johns.
“It requires the right experience and qualifications. Auditing is essential for financial discipline, ensuring internal processes are robust and effective in managing risks, and satisfying the requirements of investors, lenders, potential buyers and regulators.”
Matt Cooper, who was promoted from business adviser to associate director last year, becomes an RI, joining Michaela Johns, James Flood, Gary Brown, Tom Young and Alan Williams.
“Our strong team of RIs is a reflection of HWB’s investment in the success of its team members, with James, Tom and I all being promoted from within and gaining our RI status within the last few years,” he said.
The bolstered team is now poised to attracting more audit work, particularly among owner-managed businesses, charities and businesses regulated by bodies such as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
HWB was founded in 1985 as Hopper Williams & Bell and is based near Southampton. It provides accounting, tax and business advisory services to organisations across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, West Sussex and beyond.
