Work on Winchester’s first carbon neutral commercial building is now complete.
Built by Southampton-based contractor SM5 for property firm Gentian, the newly completed Class E units on Moorside Ride are designed to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
This design has led to the building achieving an energy efficiency rating of EPC A+, which is the highest available and indicates the building is generating more energy than it consumes and has minimal carbon emissions.
With the completion comes the announcement of the site’s first tenant, with specialist car detailing service Könings Detailing leasing one of the two available units.
Founder, Michael Laskowski, was impressed with not only the energy efficiency of the building but also the high level of security of the site.
Michael Laskowski said: “In our line of work, security is of utmost importance. The building on Moorside Road showcases the exemplary quality and craftsmanship of Gentian.
“Beyond its outstanding energy efficiency, we are very impressed by the robust security features, as well as the high-end finish and great attention to detail throughout the development. This stands as a clear testament to Gentian’s commitment to excellence.”
Gentian Managing Director Nick Ekins said: “We are proud to deliver the first net zero purpose-built commercial building in Winchester. It has been great to work again with the SM5 team and provide new premises for such a highly regarded tenant.”
The other unit is currently available for let through local agents Lambert Smith Hampton and Goadsby.
