Hampshire’s own Bargate Homes looks set to receive planning permission from New Forest District Council for as many as 155 new homes in the village of Hordle, near Lymington.

Bargate Homes logoLocated on Hordle Lane, the 30-acre site was allocated for residential development in the council’s local plan, which aims to find homes for 1,876 households on the waiting list.

A reserved matters application is now being put together for a collection of energy-efficient properties, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to larger four-bedroom houses.

40 per cent of the scheme is to be designated for affordable housing, with shared ownership, affordable rent and social rent homes delivered by VIVID – owner of Bargate Homes.

Plans also include play areas, 15 full-size allotments, maintained woodland and paths for walking and cycling.

Mark WhiteMark White, managing director of Bargate Homes, said: “We’re thrilled to receive planning permission at committee for a second development in Hordle.

“It’s another positive step for Bargate Homes to be supporting New Forest District Council’s local plan, delivering much-needed new homes for first-time buyers, upsizers and downsizers in the area.

“At this latest 155-home development, we’re looking to not only build a fantastic selection of energy-efficient family homes but also provide expansive public open space with a play area  and allotments, leaving a lasting legacy for the whole community to enjoy.”

The news coincides with the launch of the housebuilder’s 100th development – Shepherd’s Green, located east of Everton Road in Hordle – which will deliver 97 mixed-tenure homes.
