What do impressionist Mike Osman and Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker have in common?

Great British Radio logoThey’re both hosts on Great British Radio, which – after making waves here in Hampshire – has just secured a national DAB radio license.

Over the past seven months, the team have prided themselves on a blend of good news, popular music and fun interviews, which they’ll now look to share with a much wider audience.

“Word is getting around as we continue to see growth” said Mike Osman, station CEO.

“We’re an upbeat station, a positive station, something different.

“And now, with the national DAB licence, we can reach even more people.

“We can’t wait to bring Great British Radio to the Great British public.”

Mike and his fellow hosts faced tough competition to land the licence, which puts Great British Radio on the Sound Digital multiplex.

They’re now one of only three independent stations across the two national DAB multiplexes.

“We’re over the moon with the decision”, he added.

“It’s been a real team effort from all of us and our investors.

“They don’t hand out these licences easily, but our original sound, our fantastic content and our approach to radio really cut through.

“It’s cementing our place as a real audience winner. Great British Radio was born to entertain.”

Mike himself hosts the breakfast show, while Cheryl Baker takes over on weekday afternoons.

They’re joined by Neil Kefford, who brings an 11-year radio career at Heart Kent to his 10am to 1pm show, and Chris Storey, who hosts the drivetime slot from 4pm to 7pm.

The move to DAB marks the next chapter for the team – and a bright commercial future in the eyes of station MD Mike Huston.

“This is huge news”, he said.

“Now we have a much larger listenership available, we can open doors commercially with agencies and business to get their brands to a national audience.”

Great British Radio hits national airwaves on Monday 4th December, promising ‘great laughs, great guests, and great music’.
