Romsey’s business community came together last Friday for the launch of Business Hub Romsey – a forum for professionals to engage beyond initial introductions.
Around 120 entrepreneurs and businesspeople from the region gathered on the day to hear from founders Ali Fielder, Karen Clarkson, Suzi Shilling and Philippa Luckhurst.
“It’s not just about business cards,” they explained.
“It’s about building real relationships, sharing ideas and helping local enterprises thrive.
“We don’t want to be another networking group. We’re creating something dynamic where businesses don’t just meet – they grow together.”
The event also reinforced Romsey and the surrounding areas as a thriving business location.
Karen Clarkson, marketing and business development manager at law firm Parker Bullen, welcomed attendees with a speech outlining the vision behind Business Hub Romsey.
“We’re overwhelmed by the incredible turnout from the local business community.
“Our plan is to showcase the very best of Romsey and the surrounding areas, using superb local venues and suppliers and working with outstanding businesses.
“You don’t need to live or work in Romsey to be part of it.
“While Business Hub Romsey is rooted here, we’re open to all who want to connect, collaborate and promote the best of our business community across neighbouring towns, cities and counties.”
The founders also shared their plans for a busy calendar of events, designed to offer networking opportunities that fit into members’ schedules and preferences.
Planned events include mornings with a sunrise coffee overlooking the Test Valley, exchanging ideas during relaxed ‘walk and talk’ sessions through scenic trails, and forging partnerships over drinks at evening socials – plus some adventurous activities.
The launch event was also about extending a helping hand, as Chris Hall from Romsey Young Carers shared how local businesses can play a vital role in supporting young carers.
Ali Fielder, founder of graphic design studio Bongo Creative, concluded: “The launch event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of some incredible businesses, including Kimbridge Barn for hosting us, Parker Bullen LLP for sponsoring, Dave Dodge Photography for capturing the evening, and Romsey Young Carers for sharing their appeal.
“We’re excited for the next steps with Business Hub Romsey and incredibly grateful to everyone who showed their support at this early stage.”
