One of Europe’s largest marina groups, MDL Marinas – with its HQ and flagship location in Southampton – is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Five decades later, the business continues to drive major improvements across its network of 18 UK marinas, with plans to invest £7 million in 2023 and another £30 million over the coming five years.
MD Michael Glanville said: “It’s essential for us to continue to invest in our infrastructure – dredging, pontoons, quay walls and berth holder facilities – because the quality of customers’ experience is important to us.
“Our flagship Ocean Village Marina in the centre of Southampton is undergoing extensive essential improvement works, replacing all of the south side marina pontoons while also introducing smart electricity metering technology across the marina.
“On Hayling Island, our Sparkes Marina has seen £500,000 invested in a new dry berthing facility, and further works to the quay walls, offering even more product choices.”
Though MDL has a strong presence in Hampshire, they’ve expanded further afield over the years into Dorset, Devon, Berkshire, Surrey and Suffolk.
In 2008 the company also launched their one and only site in Spain – Sant Carles Marina, nestled in a traditional seaside town.
“Whether visible or not, large or small, in money or time, all our investment is made with our customers in mind, so they can enjoy the best experience possible”, Michael added.
“This has been our ethos over the last 50 years and will help continue to drive our success for the next 50.”
