Staff at Barratt Homes put their baking skills to the test recently in support of Southampton young people’s charity No Limits.
The Bake Off saw 12 participants go head-to-head in a spin on the hit Channel 4 show, with chocolate loaves, soft sponges, bitesize Oreo brownies and heart-shaped cookies.
Kat Hutchings from No Limits joined Barratt’s charity committee to carry out the very important task of sampling the cakes and deciding which would be worthy of the top prize.
The competition was fierce, and in the end the accolade was shared jointly by Rebecca Edwards with her Victoria sponge cake, and Boris Ho with his signature chocolate brownies.
Together they raised a total of £128 for the charity, which offers free information and advice to young people living with mental health issues, debt or unemployment across Hampshire.
Kat said: “We had a great time judging all the cakes and it was very difficult to choose a winner – so we chose two!
“Of course, we had to sample some entries a couple of times, just to make sure we got it right!
“Thank you so much to Barratt for allowing me to play the role of Prue Leith for the morning and for raising such a great amount for No Limits.
“Our charity relies on the generosity of supporters like Barratt to keep funding the vital services in our community – we cannot thank them enough!”
