Founders and investors from across Hampshire gathered at Southampton Science Park last week for the latest leg of South East Angels’ Startup Roadshow series.

Following a display of impressive pitches from five early-stage businesses, it was the team at Labl.it who emerged victorious.

The Southampton startup has developed a smart labelling device that takes away the arduous job of handwritten expiry labels in commercial kitchens.

Launched in 2020, Labl.it is now being used in more than 1,000 commercial kitchens throughout the country.

Co-founder Sean Larsen said: “We’re thrilled to have won the Southampton Startup Roadshow. It was a fantastic experience with some tough competition.

“Wins like this go a long way to motivating the team, and we really appreciate the prizes and support offered by South East Angels.”

Southampton is one of several stops for this year’s Startup Roadshow, with other events in Brighton, Tunbridge Wells, Guildford and London.

Hosted by South East Angels with the backing of NatWest, FSE Group and Misfit Founders, they give entrepreneurs a platform to connect with potential investors, gain exposure, and receive valuable feedback to propel their ventures forward.

Kristina Pereckaite, founder and MD of South East Angels, said: “The quality of the pitching startups was really high, and the judges had a tough job picking a winner.

“Labl.it was chosen because Sean delivered a pitch that communicated the market opportunity clearly and displayed the impressive traction they’ve had getting Labl.It into kitchens around the UK.”
