Griffon Hoverwork, a Southampton-based leader in hovercraft design and manufacturing, is encouraging local businesses to tap into the new Solent Business Accelerator programme.
The initiative, which is part of the Solent Growth Hub’s support services, offers free training and expert advice for firms aiming to scale up.
Griffon Hoverwork’s Managing Director, Adrian Went, explained how the programme helped broaden the company’s scope. After receiving free specialist support from the Growth Hub, Griffon Hoverwork became a finalist at the Maritime UK Solent Awards. Adrian said: “We gained a much broader understanding, particularly in measuring emissions. The support we received reassured us that our sustainability strategy is on the right track, and we made valuable connections.”
He continued: “I strongly urge other Southampton businesses to explore the Solent Business Accelerator. It’s a fantastic chance for business owners to pick up new skills and achieve their growth goals.”
The Solent Business Accelerator programme provides businesses with free mentorship, one-to-one expert advice, workshops, and networking opportunities. Participants will also receive help in developing customised business strategies and securing funding.
Rachael Randall, Chair of the Solent Growth Partnership’s Business Board, said: “It’s wonderful to see Griffon Hoverwork thriving after benefiting from our training. The Solent Business Accelerator fosters business growth, helping firms increase turnover, secure investment, or enter new markets.”
Key features of the programme include mentorship, networking, workshops, and funding advice. Rachael added: “We are committed to driving innovation and economic growth in the Solent region. If your business is ready to expand, sign up now.”
The Solent Business Accelerator is delivered by Solent Partners, in partnership with Southampton City Council. More information is available at the programme’s website.
