Soton Business School looks to ‘develop leaders of the future’ with first Help to Grow session

Business leaders and academics gathered recently for Southampton Business School’s first face-to-face Help to Grow leadership and management session.

The government-backed scheme is designed to help leaders grow their businesses and is delivered by subject experts from business schools across the UK.

Southampton welcomed 19 business leaders at the university’s Highfield Campus, who together learned from Prof Laura Costanzo about what the worlds of business and academia had to offer each other.

“We have among the best academics in the world here in Southampton”, she said, “and can offer a range of services to business leaders to both solve the most complex of challenges while at the same time helping their businesses prosper.

“We’re thrilled to be taking part in the government’s Help to Grow initiative.”

The course is 90 per cent government funded with a one-off upfront fee of £750.

It’s designed to be undertaken alongside full-time work – spanning 50 hours across 12 weeks – and incorporates a combination of online and face-to-face sessions alongside case study workshops.

Gillian Saieva, director of executive education at Southampton Business School, is leading the programme.

She added: “Our mission is simple – we’re committed to developing leaders of the future who’ll take on the challenges we face and transform business and society for the better.

“Delivering the government’s Help to Grow programme is something we’re very proud of and we’re delighted to welcome on board this year’s delegates.”
