Delegates from UK Elite Sports Group (UKESG) and Havant & South Downs College (HSDC) headed off to Faridabad, India recently to work out the details for their upcoming Sports and Cultural Student Exchange Programme.
Led by Lakbir Singh, COO of UKESG, the delegation met with representatives from Manav Rachna Educational Institutions and toured the group’s impressive Faridabad campus.
Together they made plans to fly a cohort of British students over to India early next year, where they’ll take part in various sports activities while immersing themselves in the country’s culture and customs.
It follows a highly successful scheme this July which saw 20 enthusiastic youngsters from Manav Rachna’s schools in Mohali and Ludhiana take part in an eight-day exchange programme centering around Portsmouth’s Peter Ashley Activity Centre.
The initiative also aligns perfectly with the Turing Scheme, a programme from the UK government to enable international education and training opportunities.
Lakbir said: “We’re delighted to be advising and facilitating HSDC for their 2023/2024 Turing Scheme programme with our trusted India partner, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions.
“We met with colleagues from across the group for pre-planning meetings in which we viewed all the facilities and accommodation, and conducted workshops with relevant faculty members to formalise the programme.
“We’re co-developing the itinerary with learning outcomes to assist young students with skills development and cultural immersion whilst studying abroad.
“The upcoming student tour will be transformative, with learning opportunities for both HSDC and Manav Rachna students to gain meaningful connections and make lifelong memories.”
Lakbir was joined on the trip by Aaron Butson, Director of International Programmes at HSDC, and Bobbie Crown, Educational Visit Coordinator, who also had the opportunity to visit the iconic Taj Mahal.
