Plans for an EV charging hub north of Winchester have received unanimous approval from Winchester City Council.

Basingstoke-based InstaVolt are set to install 44 electric charging bays at the site just off the A34, with work scheduled to begin in the new year.

Adrian Keen“We can now press ahead to deliver this innovative and forward-thinking plan”, said InstaVolt CEO Adrian Keen.

“Having reliable and well-positioned EV charging hubs will encourage people to make the switch to a more environmentally friendly and sustainable way of travelling further than their local neighbourhood.”

The new ‘super hub’ will feature large ground- and roof-mounted solar arrays, as well as full on-site energy storage systems.

There’ll also be drive-through bays for larger vehicles, accessible bays, toilet facilities and even a restaurant.

“We’ll also be improving leisure options for drivers on our network”, Adrian added, “including plenty of open green space and a play park.

“We also understand how important it is to ensure our network is suitable for everyone, which is why our plans include designs to create accessibility for all.”
