People from across the creative industries are invited to get involved in CREATE Solent, a new initiative to help boost the region’s design and creativity ecosystem.
Led by Solent LEP in partnership with CREATE Britain, the scheme will offer opportunities to both those already working in the sector and recent graduates just starting out in their careers.
It’s been heralded as a single access point for creatives to network, collaborate and address industry challenges.
Paula Swain, Business Director at Solent LEP, said: “We’re really excited about the launch of CREATE Solent, a platform that will help regional creative industries achieve their full creative and commercial potential by being part of a bigger association.
“I encourage all those who are working in the creative industries to sign up and be part of CREATE Solent, through which they can raise their profile and reach out to collaborators and clients from right across the country.”
The initiative is set to forge stronger alliances between creative businesses, entrepreneurs and networks, offering buyers and new commissions a quick and easy route to find the region’s finest creative professionals.
It will also reflect the work of CREATE Britain on a more local level, showcasing the region’s particular specialisms, culture and heritage.
After all, there are around 16,000 creative industry students currently enrolled at universities in Southampton and Portsmouth, making the Solent the fourth largest area for creative studies in the UK.
Jeremy Aird, Founder of CREATE Britain, added: “We’re delighted that CREATE Solent is our first Regional Partner – they share our drive and determination to supercharge local creativity.
“By utilising CREATE Britain’s infrastructure, their creative community will have the tools and ecosystem to shout locally, nationally and globally about the amazing creativity and diversity that they have to offer.”
“If you love what you do and want to celebrate your unique creative talent, let us know you’re there and then we can help opportunity find you.”
