Sam Gaskell, CEO and Founder of data management consultancy DataFit, has announced she will be part of social enterprise Next Tech Girls’ role model scheme.

This will see her working with the nearly 10,000-strong community of young women supported by Next Tech Girls, sharing her experience and expertise with the aim of inspiring and empowering the next generation.

One of more than 450 volunteers in the role model scheme, Sam attended the enterprise’s first ever in-person Role Model Meetup in London, where the role models came together to share experience and strategize on ways to optimise the offering.

“Supporting young girls considering starting a career in tech is a cause very close to my heart, so I am both proud and humbled to be in a position to join Next Tech Girls on this journey,” Sam explained.

“I didn’t have female role models in place when I was at school and starting out in what was, and continues to be, a male dominated profession.

“Thanks to the likes of Next Tech Girls, young women up and down the country are now seeing, speaking with and learning from women that have worked their way up and carved out seats for themselves at the table.

“Anything is possible and nothing is more powerful than seeing that in practice, which is what makes the role model scheme so important – I can’t wait to get stuck in!”

Utilising its high-profile business partners and role model community, Next Tech Girls works with companies and educational institutions to run tech-focussed events and work experience placements for teenage girls, with a focus on those from lower income or ethnic minority backgrounds.

Gayle Thompson-Igwebike, Director of Next Tech Girls, added: “We are delighted to have Sam on board as a role model. Hearing her story and her innate passion and purpose for helping others makes her the perfect addition to the group.

“Sam has so much to offer, not only in terms of tech and data experience, but her mindset and people-led approach to her career has been key to her success and something that our young girls can definitely learn from. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank her and officially welcome her as a NTG Role Model!”
