Making Our Mark: Novatura Celebrates One Year in Business

This June 29th marks a big milestone for Novatura. It’s our company anniversary, celebrating 1 year since we joined Hampshire’s software development scene! It’s surreal to think that in 12 short months, we’ve gone from a university passion project and a dream to a thriving digital solutions venture. But how did we support ourselves all this time?

Back when we were finishing our degrees, our team knew we had great professional chemistry and the ambition to work on big projects. It’s been a great year for us, but it wasn’t luck that got us this far – “A blade does not become strong until it has been through the fire several times.” Reflecting on the year, we’re proud of the achievements earned by our hard work and collaboration.

From humble beginnings making websites for family and friends, to eventually getting our first proper clients, our first major trial we faced was finding work. A good network sure went a long way! I think some of our best achievements of the year were getting the chance to exhibit at the Hampshire Business Show and Venturefest South. Experiences we won’t forget anytime soon!

Earning gradually more complex contracts, we finally got to stretch our wings a bit with more bespoke app projects. Here are a few of our work highlights from the year. Who knows, you might be inspired by one or two of them ?

A while later, we had a long dry spell (a pit of despair, as entrepreneurs call it), where we could barely afford to pay rent! With 5 mouths to feed we were very close to calling it quits! But we’re glad we persevered, because we secured some awesome new contracts thanks to our networking efforts and pressed on into the spring! At the start of June, we even won a Student Enterprise award at the University of Southampton’s Student Experience Awards 2024, our first award as a business and another great milestone!

Anyway, that’s Novatura’s first year summarised. It’s been hard to get off the ground, but determination and boundless optimism are a huge advantage when overcoming tough times. Novatura is a lifestyle venture for the team, and the learning curves we’ve had will definitely help us achieve that in the long-term.
