This could mean a new digital platform, e-commerce development, product development, purchase of new equipment, or training.

It’s been made possible through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Steve PittCllr Steve Pitt, leader of the council with responsibility for economic development, said: “Portsmouth has a high percentage of startup, micro and small businesses.

“If a business has a great idea which will help them start or grow, we want them to act now and to apply for this new grant before the deadline.

“After a turbulent few years, it remains important that we support our businesses to grow for our long-term economy to thrive.”

Applicants must qualify as a small or micro business within postcode areas PO1 to PO6 and provide a sound business plan to the council.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 4th February.
