PT pair Alfy and Tom open new Winchester gym, with 150 signed up already!

After tucking in to one too many mince pies over Christmas, many of us turn to gyms in January.

Winchester residents now have a new option, after personal trainers Alfy Whittingham and Tom Donaldson opened the doors of Elevate Fitness Studio last month – seeing more than 150 members signing already.

The pair met while working as coaches for OrangeTheory at Harman House. With that gym closing in September, they decided to take on the premises and launch a new studio, aiming to take a fresh approach to membership and training.

Alfy said: “We knew this was a great location for a gym and that many of our previous clients wanted to continue to train with us. We also knew that they liked the technology and training style but wanted something more for their money.”

The result is a gym where members can train outside of class times with a PT always present to guide and support them.

The studio timetable includes their signature Elevate 60 group sessions. These are centred around improving strength, mobility and cardio fitness using state of the equipment and technology. There are also more specialised classes including pilates and menopause fitness.

To help launch their new business, Elevate offered free sessions throughout December.

They also supported the annual Tinathon challenge with dedicated classes and provided the warm up for the Winchester Hospice Night Walk. This encouraged many new people to enter the building for the first time.

Alfy said: “It was great to welcome everyone into the Elevate studio. We are excited to be supporting many of them on their fitness journeys. We are also looking forward to working on more Winchester community events later this year.”
