Wightlink demonstrated its support for Armed Forces Day by sponsoring the Royal Navy Parachute Display Team.
Commander Dave Lee flew Wightlink’s flag as well as the White Ensign as they descended 6,000 feet to land on Ryde sands to applause from the crowd.
The ferry company also transported vital kit for the Isle of Wight Armed Forces Day event including a Gazelle helicopter.
More than 10,000 people flocked to Ryde beach on Sunday June 30 to watch the Red Arrows, walk on board a landing craft and listen to music from the Island’s Highland Pipes and Drums.
There were also songs from The Vintage Trio and a chance to find out more about life in the armed forces.
Phil Delaney, Wightlink Commercial Director, said: “We were delighted to get involved with this very special day in Ryde and congratulate its hardworking organiser Ian Dore.
“Wightlink has signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant, employs many ex-servicemen and women and offers discounts for travel to veterans and serving members of the armed forces through the Defence Discount Service.
“We are already looking forward to next year’s event.”
