First Chief Executive chosen to head ‘UK’s Global Gateway’ at Solent Freeport

The Solent Freeport has announced that James Hassett will become its first Chief Executive in June 2023.

He takes up the new role this June after 25 years in leadership roles across the engineering, environmental and public sectors.

James will soon be busy working to establish the Freeport as a national hub for global trade and investment, enabling regeneration of the area through the creation of high-skilled jobs.

And he brings to the top job some valuable local wisdom: “I know the Solent well. It has unique character and potential but also presents a challenge.
