‘Small batch, giant heart’ - Mettricks Portswood brewery & coffee roastery to return after big refit

Independent café-bar group Mettricks are set to relaunch their flagship Portswood location, Ascapart, with a new on-site brewery and coffee roastery.

Mettricks logoThe group, which operates four locations around Southampton, shut up shop last year for a three-month renovation, but have now announced their return on Monday 18th March.

Ascapart now boasts a 1,000-litre brewery with 12 craft beers on tap – including five of their own – led by head of beer Jimmy Hatherley.

The Portswood venue will also serving up brunch and sourdough pizzas, while head of coffee Wilson Law Wai Shing is set to oversee the roastery – featuring Southampton’s first Mod Bar espresso machine.

Spencer Bowman (above centre), founder and MD of Mettricks, said: “Speciality coffee and craft beer have gone hand in hand at Mettricks since 2013.

“It feels like a dream come true to share this exciting moment in time with Jimmy and Wilson as we bring Ascapart to life.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone into Portswood to experience it.”

The venue will be open until 11pm at 267 Portswood Road, Southampton, SO17 2LA.

Ascapart beer and coffee will also be available at Mettricks’ other locations.
