Marwell Zoo has teamed up with Hampshire Fare to launch a competition offering local food and drink producers a spot in the zoo’s newly refurbished restaurant and gift shop.
The two are working together to curate a menu and retail offering that spotlights the very best of Hampshire produce.
Applicants will be invited to pitch their products in a Dragon’s Den-style format, with winners chosen ready for the opening of the new facilities this May.
Laura Read, CEO of Marwell Wildlife, said: “We’re delighted to be working with our partners at Hampshire Fare on this exciting competition for local food and beverage businesses.
“‘Roar into the Store’ will give us a chance to select some of the finest produce in the region to be sold in our restaurant and gift shop.
“We’re looking for great sustainable products that will complement our exciting new setting, which will be open to zoo visitors and the public as well – bringing together lovers of nature with lovers of great food and drink!”
Natasha Dochniak, commercial manager at Hampshire Fare, added: “We’re proud to be coordinating Roar into the Store, giving our members this exclusive opportunity to showcase their products in one of Hampshire’s top attractions.
“Our role is all about creating meaningful connections that support and elevate local food and drink businesses, and this competition is a fantastic example of that in action.”
The competition is open exclusively to members of Hampshire Fare.
Applications close Friday 28 February at 5pm.
A shortlist will then be drawn up and successful businesses will be invited to a pitch day at Marwell on Thursday 20 March.
