Southampton’s Meachers Global Logistics have welcomed a trio of new recruits alongside a significant investment in their transport fleet.
The firm has brought in eight new HGV 44-tonne trucks and 20 trailers at a total cost of £1 million.
As for the team, they’ve welcomed Health and Safety and Compliance Manager Simon Pelly, Operations Manager Emma Newman, and Warehouse Administration Apprentice Sophie Barnes.
Simon draws upon a 25-year career in logistics and transport with the British Army, where he ascended to the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1.
He brings plenty of experience in project management, operational management and compliance.
Simon said: “I’m very proud of my accomplishments, and after leaving the service, I gained numerous qualifications to help with the transition to civilian life.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for the warm welcome and help settling in at Meachers.
“I look forward to working with a great team.”
He’s joined by Emma, who has leveraged her degree in Operations Management to lead teams, streamline processes and maximise efficiency in a variety of logistical roles.
She said: “I’m delighted to join Meachers and look forward not only to leading, developing, and driving my team, but also progressing my skills and knowledge within the company.
“I’m committed to navigating the ever-evolving landscape of the business, ensuring the team and strategies remain resilient and adaptable.”
The recruits have been welcomed by Commercial Director Gary Whittle.
