155 years on and now under the leadership of the fifth generation, family stairlift manufacturers Stannah are sticking to their Hampshire roots as they take up new facilities.
The business has been based in Andover for almost a third of its lifetime, with their latest move putting them into a 90,000 sq ft factory at Andover Business Park – just off the A303.
It’s a crucial step towards expanding Stannah’s production capacity, reducing lead times for its many international customers, and providing its manufacturing teams with a purpose-built facility.
MD Jon Stannah said: “Andover has been the home of the Stannah Group since we moved operations from London in 1974.
“The new factory more than doubles our manufacturing footprint.
“Our business continues to grow steadily and the additional capacity will help us serve our customers across the world more efficiently far into the future.”
The move was facilitated by commercial property developer Stoford, who have built rainwater harvesting and 24,300 sq ft of photovoltaic panels into the new facility.
They worked alongside Benniman, Trinity Property Consultants, Webb Gray Architects, Link Engineering and Engineering Services Consultancy.
Edward Peel, Director at Stoford, added: “We’re very pleased to have successfully delivered this high quality, sustainable building.
“Stannah’s investment in the facility represents a significant boost to UK manufacturing and promises to bring more jobs to the region.”
