After a few years of strain, office takeup for the South East is on track to surpass the national trend this year, making it the third successive quarter to achieve this since 2017.
This was the promising backdrop to a roundtable hosted by the Flexible Space Association (FlexSA) in Southampton last week.
According to a report from CBRE, the success in Southampton’s office market – which has placed a strong emphasis on sustainability – reflects both UK-wide trends and the specific needs of the South East.
After all, with the rising demand for workspaces comes a push for more energy-efficient regulations.
FlexSA member companies in Southampton met at Figflex Offices, where they discussed what makes for successful events for clients, the increased number of days people are spending in the office, and the challenges and opportunities of virtual office services.
Jane Sartin, executive director of FlexSA, said: “The recent figures offer a hopeful development for the flexible workspace industry, and bringing members together demonstrated the current strength of the Southampton industry.
“We’re excited to see this takeup continue.”
