Silverlake Automotive Recycling [Silverlake] was awarded Salvage Company of the Year at the prestigious ATF Professional Vehicle Recycling Awards, held on November 28th, at the RAF Cosford Museum near Birmingham.  These national awards are competitively entered by vehicle recyclers throughout the UK and judges determined Silverlake, based in Shedfield, the winner of Salvage Company of the Year for the second consecutive year.

The Salvage Company Award recognised the innovation Silverlake applies to its UK-wide operations which sees the business process 33,000+ salvage vehicles a year.   Salvage cars are sourced from business clients including insurers, garages and dealers, and consumers who can get a rapid quote by phone or the website.  In-house data analytics and market research informs the vehicle buying team and, together with an engineering assessment, determines whether a salvage vehicle is remarketed on the company’s online auction or processed for ‘full-service’ or ‘self-service’ reclaimed parts. ‘Full-service’ parts are dismantled by the Silverlake team, quality graded and sold with a warranty and provenance report.  Self-service parts represent the opportunity for customers to come to the company’s U-Pick-It yard and safely dismantle their own parts from stocks of over 300 breakers that are updated weekly.  The company delivers parts nationwide using its own dedicated delivery fleet.  Bulk deliveries to its Midlands based hub are used to help reduce carbon emissions along with intelligent fleet planning tools to plan the most carbon efficient journeys.

Commenting on the award wins, Allen Prebble, managing director of Silverlake said: “I am over the moon for the business to have received this award for the second year running, and humbled again by the associated industry recognition.  This win comes hot on the heels of bodyshops around the UK voting for Silverlake as the ABP Repairers’ Choice – Green Parts Supplier of the Year, for which we are incredibly grateful and proud.  The Silverlake team is 100% dedicated to offering an exceptional customer experience and to leading the way in our industry.  I am full of admiration and thanks for their loyalty and commitment.

“We want to keep Silverlake and Hampshire where we belong by continuing to build on our many years of hard work and investment.  Our current planning application, under consideration by Hampshire County Council, will enable us to grow and update our facilities, increasing our site by 18 acres to 30 acres and giving us the capacity to handle an extra 20,000 vehicles a year. We need to future-proof the business as we move away from petrol and diesel vehicles to alternative fuels, to help us to continue to safely and effectively service the region.  Sustainability sits at the core of our automotive recycling business and our expansion goals represent great news for local jobs and the regional economy, and will help to continue to put Hampshire on the map as a centre for excellence in sustainability and innovation.”
