SCIS Group to pilot its new eco-homes in Gosport, with annual energy bills starting at £600

Fareham-based insulation and energy efficiency installers SCIS Group are breaking into the residential construction market with a pair of new three-bedroom homes in Gosport.

The properties come as part of a pilot scheme incorporating a range of innovative design features and energy efficient technologies.

Those include air source heat pumps, solar panels, insulation, ventilation systems, rainwater recycling, hot water recovery, underfloor heating, and energy efficient windows and doors.

The design will also stray from a typical British home layout, with bedrooms on the ground floor and living space on the first floor to optimise energy efficiency and natural light.

Meanwhile, the rooftop will be split into five sections, with skylight windows on one side and solar panels on the other – carefully positioned to maximise energy from the sun.

SCIS is expecting to achieve an EPC ‘A’ rating for the two homes, costing residents as little as £50 a month – or £600 a year – in energy bills.

They should also take no longer to build than standard three-bedroom homes, despite the extra features.
