There’s something fishy going on in Winchester as local farmers’ market favourites Butler Country Estates open up their new Troutlet on Easton Lane.
Starting this week, Richard Butler and his team will be offering a variety of smoked trout fillets and pate, with flavours including watercress, dill, chilli – as well as beetroot and horseradish, which recently earned them the prestigious 2 Star Great Taste Award.
An avid fly fisherman and entrepreneur, Richard is Managing Director of Butler Country Estates.
Their Winnall smokery sources fresh fish from the nutrient-rich chalk streams of the Rivers Test, Itchen and Meon.
After years of popping up at farmers’ markets across Hampshire and Surrey, Richard’s ready to establish a more regular presence in the heart of Winchester.
“Our customers have been asking us to open a shop for ages”, he said, “and we’re excited to be bringing them the Troutlet.
“As proud members of Hampshire Fare, we’re also hoping to be selling products from other local producers soon.”
The Troutlet will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 12pm to 4pm, with free parking nearby and good disabled access.
