Stanwell House, a boutique hotel in Lymington, is set to welcome a new era as it bids farewell to its longstanding leadership team.
General Manager Lance Bartlett and Hotel Manager Lisa Bartlett, who have played a pivotal role in elevating Stanwell House to its premier status in the New Forest, are preparing to relocate to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
The couple’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter in the hotel’s history.
Reflecting on his time at Stanwell House, Lance said: “The past three and a half years at Stanwell House, alongside 16 years of working with its owners, have been an incredible journey.
“I’m immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished, transforming this historic property into a leading boutique hotel in the New Forest.
“While it’s bittersweet to leave, I’m excited to return to my roots in Africa. I’m thrilled to appoint Josie Clare as my successor, her experience and vision will undoubtedly take Stanwell House to new heights.”
Owners Maryanne and Calum Maclean praised the Bartletts’ contributions, saying: “We would like to thank Lance and Lisa for their fantastic support and efforts over the last 16 years in getting Stanwell House Hotel, the Snakecatcher pub, and Albero restaurant, up and running on behalf of ourselves.
“They will be missed, but we wish them well in their new and exciting challenge ahead.”
Taking over the helm later this month is Josie Clare (pictured right), an accomplished professional in hospitality management.
Josie brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having worked with Harbour Hotels Group and most recently as General Manager of the Avington estate in Winchester.
Speaking of her new position, Josie said: “I am thrilled to take the reins at Stanwell House this September, with a commitment to providing exceptional service and a unique experience to all its guests. The New Forest holds a special place in my heart, and I am excited to contribute to its charm and hospitality.”
Stanwell House, located in the picturesque Regency market town of Lymington, recently underwent a multi-million-pound refurbishment and re-opened to the public in December 2022. As the hotel steps into its next chapter, it continues to shine as a standout destination in the New Forest.
