Maritime UK Solent has welcomed a pair of new non-executive directors to its board.
Jamie Holmes, co-founder and director of Southampton-based NASH Maritime, is a chartered engineer with 20 years of experience in maritime infrastructure.
He specialises in shipping and navigation risk, working on some of the world’s flagship maritime projects.
Also joining the board is Jane Taylor, people director for BAE Systems Maritime Services.
A senior HR professional, Jane has extensive leadership experience within the local maritime sector, as well as multiple industries in the private sector.
Anne-Marie Mountifield, chair of Maritime UK Solent, said: “The Solent is recognised as a global leader in the maritime sector.
“We’re looking to build on our existing assets and leverage the potential of the sector, facilitating high value innovation and enterprise, opening up access to new global markets.
“Having Jamie and Jane on board will help us achieve our ambitions to firmly establish the Solent as the first choice for new investment and support our journey to strengthen and grow this globally significant maritime hub.
“Jamie brings expertise in maritime consultancy and commercialising innovation, as well as an SME perspective.
“Jane’s proven success in working collaboratively with stakeholders to champion and foster growth within the local economy and locally significant maritime defence sector will bring additional strengths to Maritime UK Solent and complement our existing cohort of non-executive directors.
“I’m delighted to welcome them both to the board as we move our outstanding maritime cluster to a new and exciting era.”
Jamie and Jane join a team of directors from organisations across the Solent’s maritime sector, from industry to education.
Jamie said: “This is an exciting time for Maritime UK Solent, and I believe my experience and drive will help to deliver its objectives and champion the entrepreneurial spirit among the Solent maritime community.
“Maritime UK Solent has achieved a great deal in a short time, and I’m very much looking forward to working as part of the board and with organisations in our successful regional cluster to achieve our collective ambitions.”
Jane added: “My time at BAE Systems has given me a strong appreciation of the opportunities and challenges involved in supporting the growth of the maritime sector, and I’m eager to help drive tangible and positive change within the region.
“The Solent’s maritime sector needs strong talent coming into the industry for its continued success, and I’m committed to championing investment in employment opportunities for the region’s young people to allow them, and the industry, to thrive in future years.”
