Military college says ‘huge thank you’ to Meachers who share decades of commercial logistics wisdom

Meachers Global Logistics were joined by students from the Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration (DCLPA) in Worthy Down recently for a look behind the scenes at the firm’s Nursling warehouse facility.

The 15 students, who are all studying on the Military Engineer Logistics Supervisor course, were able to gain some real-world insight into the industry and see first-hand how Meachers run their day-to-day operations.

Together they learned about warehouse management, stocktaking and stock maintenance, equipment maintenance and inspection, consignment tracking and systems administration.

Gary Whittle, Commercial Director at Meachers, said: “We’re delighted the DCLPA sees value in its students visiting us, hearing from our team and seeing how we do things.

“We’re incredibly proud of the processes we’ve developed and honed over 60 years.

“We were only too happy to share these with the college to aid its students in their career development.”

It’s the latest visit as part of an ongoing relationship between the company and college.

WO2 Tekbahadur Gurung from the Engineer Logistics Division at DCLPA added: “On behalf of the college, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Gary and his team for welcoming our students again this year.

“These visits play a key part in helping us demonstrate how logistics can operate efficiently in the civilian world.

“Meachers has a great deal of knowledge and experience in this regard, and we’re grateful they’re happy to share this with our students.”
