Griffon Hoverwork has announced Mark Downer as its new managing director.
Currently engineering director for the Portsmouth-based hovercraft maker, Mark has been with the company 12 years.
He maintains “strong working relationships” with its customers and brings to the role a deep understanding of the global marine industry.
Mark takes over from Adrian Went, who’s led Griffon for the past 15 years and will stay “closely involved” in a consultative capacity during the transition.
Griffon has been supplying hovercraft to Japan’s Oita Prefecture to ferry passengers between the airport and the city.
Last year it also unveiled the Wyvern, a new class of craft to provide rapid amphibious transport for the world’s military forces.
