Maritime UK Solent teams up with Solent Freeport for networking event on international partnerships

Maritime UK Solent is to hold a networking event later this month aimed at exploring new global opportunities.

Maritime UK Solent logoSponsored by Solent Freeport, the event will bring together industry leaders, innovators and experts to discuss international trade and partnership possibilities for the region’s maritime sector.

Anne-Marie Mountifield, chair of Maritime UK Solent, said: “The Solent region is at the forefront of the maritime industry, with extraordinary potential for international collaboration and trade.

The event will shine a spotlight on ocean technologies in Canada; maritime engineering prospects in Fairfax County, Virginia, USA; and untapped opportunities in East Africa.

There’ll also be a trade delegation from Solent Freeport, while Southampton’s Griffon Hoverwork will share success stories on local businesses excelling internationally.

James Hassett, chief executive of Solent Freeport and one of the keynote speakers, said: “Events such as this are vital for connecting businesses with potential international partners to gauge exactly what opportunities may exist overseas.

“We’re delighted to be not only sponsoring this important event but also playing a full role in the day as we seek to help our regional businesses expand and demonstrate the benefits of inward investment into Solent Freeport.”

Attendees will also participate in a workshop led by industry representatives, exploring current international trade regions, port cities, and new markets that could drive future growth.

The event takes place on Wednesday 29 January from 9:30am to 12:30pm at Lakeside North Harbour business campus in Portsmouth.

Attendance is free for Maritime UK Solent partners, while tickets are normally £30 plus VAT.
