The countdown is on for the Maritime UK Solent Awards 2023 as entries are set to open next week.

Following on from the huge success of last year’s event, MUK Solent are preparing to announce a follow-up on Tuesday 2 May at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton.

Chair Anne-Marie Mountifield will be inviting businesses and leaders working in the maritime sector to come and celebrate the hard work and dedication of their peers.

Stuart Baker, Managing Director of MUK Solent, said: “We’re very excited to be launching the MUK Solent Awards 2023, which will highlight the Solent’s maritime strengths and innovation at a national and international level.

“Maritime UK Solent is regarded as the voice of the region’s maritime sector and we are proud to be organising these awards again this year.

“We welcome entries from Solent-based maritime businesses and those working in the sector to take part in these awards, which will showcase the very best of our thriving maritime industry here in the Solent region.”

Some of last year’s winners are set to return as speakers for the event, with Chris Scrutton from Start-up of the Year winners Vulcan Offshore and Andy Page from Business of the Year winners Chartwell Marine both in attendance.

The awards also support local charities like Wetwheels, whose founder Geoff Holt MBE DL will reflect on the support and awareness raised as a direct result of the event at the upcoming launch.

MUK Solent will be welcoming applications from 2 May to 5 June, with winners announced at a ceremony on Thursday 5 October at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. They are also looking for new charity partners and sponsors for this year’s event.
