InstaVolt, the Basingstoke-based EV charging operator, has launched its first site in the Republic of Ireland.

InstaVolt logoIt comes as part of the company’s ambition to install more than 16,000 chargers across Europe by 2030, cementing itself as the continent’s largest ultra-rapid charging provider.

Two 160kW chargers – capable of delivering an 80 per cent charge in less than 20 minutes – have now been fitted at a McDonald’s restaurant on Belgard Road, Dublin.

InstaVolt plans to install more chargers at McDonald’s locations in Newbridge, Letterkenny and Maynooth by early 2025, all powered by 100 per cent renewable energy.

Simon SmithSimon Smith, chief commercial officer at InstaVolt, said: “We’re delighted to bring InstaVolt’s ultra-rapid chargers to Dublin, marking an exciting milestone in our journey to expand across Europe.

“Working with premium partners like McDonald’s allows us to deliver world-class charging solutions while supporting drivers in making the switch to electric vehicles.

“Our goal is to set the standard for ultra-rapid charging, combining reliability, ease of use and sustainability.”

Jimmy Edwards, who owns and operates the Dublin McDonald’s, added: “I’m thrilled to introduce the new InstaVolt rapid charging point at our restaurant.

“This is an exciting step forward in our commitments to sustainability and elevating the customer experience at our restaurants.

“Customers can now take advantage of ultra-rapid charging in the car park while stopping to refuel themselves!”

This latest development comes as work continues on InstaVolt’s EV charging ‘superhub’ just outside Winchester, where asphalt is now laid and chargers will soon be installed.
