This week marks the official launch of the new Love Portsmouth popup shop in Gunwharf Quays.
Organised by Portsmouth City Council with Love Southsea and Landsec – and backed by government funding – the shop will offer a platform for small local businesses to expand their reach and pick up valuable retail experience.
They’ll also be able to showcase their products to regional and national buyers who work with big brands at Gunwharf Quays.
Cllr Steve Pitt, leader of the council, said: “This is a fantastic project to spotlight and support our local small businesses.
“It will help to equip them with the knowledge to develop their brands, which in turn supports our local economy.”
Among the diverse range of products on offer are natural skincare by Goly Natural, handcrafted jewellery by Wild Jewellery, quality teas by Tea Mountain, sustainable fashion by SpottandHerbert and unique children’s clothing by Little Loves Apparel.
There’ll also be food and drink producers including The Portsmouth Distillery Company, Staggeringly Good Brewery, Spice Island Chill and Pastry Corner.
Lulu Whitmore, director of Love Southsea, said: “This is so exciting for Portsmouth’s local businesses.
“The Love Portsmouth shop is proudly Portsmouth and is a vibrant hub showcasing incredible local makers and producers.
“Portsmouth and Southsea have the best talent, and as a city, we really do know how to shop local.
“We can’t wait to welcome all into the shop!”
Yvonne Clay, CEO of Gunwharf Quays, added: “As well as being home to famous national and international brands, we have a proud history working with local suppliers and supporting regional initiatives.
“So we’re delighted to showcase the Love Portsmouth popup, which we’re sure will be a hit with guests.
“It’s hugely rewarding for us to play an active part in the community, which last year included hosting two artisan markets, supporting the ‘Made in Portsmouth’ challenge, raising funds for local charities and supporting regional not-for-profit organisations with grants via the Landsec Futures Community Grant Scheme.”
The Love Portsmouth shop will be open daily from 10am to 6pm until the end of March.
It’s also set to host workshops and events to promote local products and businesses.
