Housebuilder’s donation gives Hampshire schoolchildren a glow up for safety

Hampshire housebuilder Barratt Homes has donated 150 high vis jackets to children at a local school.

The stack of reflective tops, given to children at Hart Plain Infant School in Waterlooville, will help to keep them safe as they walk to and from school, and came at the same time as the Hampshire school marked its annual ‘Winter Safety Day’.

Teacher, Claire Ward, said: “Every year we hold a ‘Winter Safety Day’, which gives our children the opportunity to learn about safety. This involves talking to pupils about how to keep safe on the Internet, but also out on our roads.

“Barratt’s generous donation will support this learning, and we’re very grateful. The children were so excited to wear their new jackets home and they’ll also be wearing them out on our school trips in the future.”

Barratt Homes are committed to building relationships with schools and young people in the region, and Tammy Bishop, Barratt Homes Sales Director, said it’s “been a pleasure” to help. What’s more, after the developer heard back from the Infant school about how useful they were finding its first box of donated jackets, they went back to hand over a second box.

Tammy Bishop, Barratt Homes Sales Director, said: “It’s so important that we show our support for schools and other organisations in the communities where we are building, and I’m really pleased we’ve been able to make this donation to Hart Plain Infant School.

“Keeping our children safe on the roads is paramount, especially during the darker months of the year, and we’re glad these high-visibility jackets can help with that.”
