Portsmouth’s VIVID Homes have stepped up to help Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service provide essential training for their team.
The firefighters headed down to VIVID’s site in Thornhill where their principal contractor, Hampshire Homes Group, set up a tower crane for rope rescue drills.
Michael Penny, Firefighter for Hightown White Watch, said: “We’re extremely grateful to VIVID and Hampshire Homes Group for allowing us to use their site.
“Opportunities like this are few and far between, so it’s great that we’ve been able to hold this potentially life-saving training.”
Formerly occupied by the Eastpoint Centre, the site will see the construction of 128 affordable homes as part of a three-year project.
John Crapper, Head of Construction at VIVID, added: “We’re always looking at ways to support our local communities.
“We’re proud to have worked with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service and provided them with the resources to support their work.”
