Workers in the Solent’s maritime, transport and logistics industries can sign up for free skills training to take their careers to a new level.

Solent Partners is supporting the Level 3 Maritime Transport and Logistics Bootcamp.

The innovative 12-week programme is designed to help individuals progress in the rapidly evolving sector, particularly in freight forwarding and customs-based roles.

The training will be delivered, in partnership with South Hampshire College Group, to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in one of the UK’s most critical industries.

Rachael Randall, Chair of Solent Partners, pictured left, said: “We are excited to announce the launch of the Maritime Transport and Logistics Skills training to address skills shortages in the sector.

“The maritime transport logistics sector is crucial to the UK economy, with the Port of Southampton being one of the busiest ports in the country.

“As the industry continues to grow and evolve, the demand for skilled workers who can manage complex logistics operations and ensure efficient transport services is higher than ever.

“This is an exciting opportunity for individuals to gain the skills they need to succeed in these dynamic roles.

“We are committed to supporting local talent and helping to build a strong, resilient workforce that meets the needs of our region’s employers and boosts the Solent’s economic growth.”

The Maritime Transport and Logistics training will focus on key topics such as freight forwards and supply chain management, maritime operations including importing and exporting goods, health and safety and industry regulations.

Graduates will receive a Level 3 qualification, opening doors to a wide range of career opportunities in the region.

The programme will provide:

  • Industry-relevant training: The curriculum is tailored to the current needs of the maritime transport and logistics sectors, ensuring that participants gain practical, job-ready skills.
  • Expert instruction: Participants will learn from experienced professionals who bring real-world insights and a deep understanding of the industry.
  • Employment opportunities: Successful completion of the course provides direct pathways into employment, with strong links to local employers.

Registration for the Maritime Transport and Logistics programme is now open, with limited spaces available.
