Work began last month to transform The Cart and Horses in the cosy village of Kings Worthy, with the Grade II listed pub on track to start welcoming patrons in late July.

The gardens are to be reinstated and the indoor space will gain a collection of private dining areas complemented by open fires and exposed brickwork as part of Greene King’s £1 million refurbishment.
A whole new team will also be brought in under the leadership of new Manager Ed Dugdill, with a reimagined menu featuring local and organic British produce.
Ed said: “Blending tradition with innovation, the pub’s sympathetic restoration will take inspiration from the buildings original features and alongside our food and drinks menu, showcase the best of modern-British pub dining.
The new gardens will offer al fresco dining options
“With dedicated spaces from cosy drinking nooks to heated outdoor dining in newly landscaped gardens, the pub will seat more than 300 guests both inside and out, helping us to firmly put The Cart and Horses at the heart of this wonderful community.
“It’s so exciting to be able to start talking about it all now and we can’t wait to open the doors to our brand-new pub right in the middle of summer.”
