As the weather takes a turn for the better, people were out in force last Saturday to trek the stunning coastal path between Poole and Lymington in support of Oakhaven Hospice.
The event saw participants walking either 7, 13, or the full 26 miles, all the while raising money for the Hospice and its free-of-charge services for patients and their loved ones in and around Hampshire.
Although the registration fee only covered the cost of administration and a t-shirt, plenty of walkers and their supporters were happy to make extra donations.
It’s brought the total funds raised so far to a whopping £20,000, with more still coming in, thanks also to the support of returning local sponsor Pennyfarthing Homes.
As statutory income provides only 10 per cent of the annual running costs at Oakhaven Hospice, events like this throughout the year make up the vast majority of their funding.
The money goes towards specialist medical and nursing care, counselling and bereavement services, various therapies and support services, and education and training for their dedicated team of volunteers.
