Company veteran takes the helm as president of Carnival UK

Southampton’s Paul Ludlow has been announced as the new president of Carnival UK, following the last four years he has spent at the head of subsidiary brand P&O Cruises.

The consolidated role sees Paul assuming all worldwide commercial and operational responsibility for P&O Cruises and Cunard under the umbrella of Carnival UK.

He takes over from Sture Myrmell, who leaves behind a long and successful legacy at the company.

Paul said: “There has never been a more auspicious time for our two brands.

“P&O Cruises continues to deliver outstanding success and is clearly at the forefront of contemporary, mainstream holidays.

“Aligned with global talent including Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger, as well as credible, authentic partnerships such as the recent BAFTA Television Awards sponsorship, the future of the brand could not be brighter.

“Next year will be a momentous one for Cunard with the arrival of our new ship and our fourth Queen, Queen Anne, which will once again shine the spotlight on this exceptional brand with its rich legacy.”

The move comes in the wake of Katie McAlister’s appointment as president of Cunard. Katie will report to Paul when she joins the company in August.

Josh Weinstein, President and CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc, added: “Paul is a 21-year veteran of the company with far-reaching experience across every commercial department and multiple brands in our portfolio of world-class cruise lines.

“That deep expertise, coupled with Paul’s proven leadership and track record of outstanding results, make him the clear choice to support our entire UK organization and to drive our return to strong profitability.

“I would also like to thank Sture for 30 years of dedicated service.

“From his start in our company as an officer aboard Cunard, to becoming president, P&O Cruises – Australia, to coming full circle and ultimately leading Carnival UK including the venerable Cunard brand, Sture’s dedication and contributions to our company have been significant.

“We wish him well.”

New sponsor for Winchester City Flyers as club looks to grow

Since their founding in 1996, Winchester City Flyers have grown to become the largest all-women’s football club in the county, fielding 28 teams across different age brackets.

Now, the club has managed to secure a top sponsorship deal for the upcoming season with Bournemouth-based multimedia agency Top Cat Media.

Club Chairman Tony Panteli, pictured right, has been with the Flyers for more than 16 years.

He said: “As a club, we are super excited to have Top Cat Media on board as a new sponsor for us and the team there have been excellent and incredibly supportive.

“We are really looking forward to working with them going forward.”

Top Cat Media is now one of the fastest growing agencies on the South Coast, offering a range of marketing services from design and copywriting to videography and photography.

Founder and Managing Director Ross Taylor, pictured left, added: “Women’s football has seen some incredible growth over recent years, something highlighted more so only last year when England’s Lionesses won our first major football competition since 1966.”

“In supporting the Winchester City Flyers, we aim to inspire and empower the next generation of women in sports.”

The club has big plans over the next five years as they look the climb the league pyramid, building upon the huge surge in popularity for the women’s game.

In light of this, they’re set to hold open trials for ladies aged 16 and up later this month at the Garrison Ground.

Honeypot on track for record-breaking summer donation drive

The Summer Big Give appeal at Honeypot just got a huge boost thanks to the Lyndhurst offices of global chemical firm INEOS.

Honeypot Children’s Charity supports more than 2000 young carers each year – around a quarter of those in and around Hampshire – as they navigate the difficulties and emotional strain of looking after chronically or terminally ill family members.

In order to fund this vital work, the team at Honeypot is hoping to raise a record £100,000 as part of their June donation drive.

That target is now looking a lot more realistic, with INEOS Lyndhurst stepping in alongside The Childhood Trust to match donations up to £25,000 from 6 to 20 June.

Honeypot CEO Simmi Woodwal said: “Funds of this magnitude make a massive difference to Honeypot and to the lives of thousands of young carers.

“INEOS Lyndhurst and the Hampshire community’s support goes a long way in enriching the lives of disadvantaged young carers.

“On behalf of the many young carers these funds will support, I offer my heartfelt thanks.”

Donations enable the charity to continue delivering residential respite breaks at Honeypot House in the New Forest, as well as offering online workshops and a Wellbeing Fund to support young carers financially.

Community Engagement Manager Viv Carter added: “This appeal will help young carers aged 5 to 12 improve their confidence and self-esteem, give them a chance to develop social skills through Honeypot fun with new friends, and create happy memories to cherish for life.

“What a fantastic gift INEOS Lyndhurst will be giving these children.”
