Work is coming along at InstaVolt’s electric vehicle charging superhub at Three Maids Hill in Winchester.

InstaVolt logoThe permeable asphalt layer – designed to allow rainwater to pass through and thus minimise the site’s environmental impact – is now complete across the site.

Soon will come bay marking and the installation of 44 ‘ultra-rapid’ chargers, powered by 100 per cent renewable energy.

“Our Winchester site is the latest in a series of superhubs we’re opening across the InstaVolt network,” said Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt.

Delvin Lane“We’re thrilled to see such rapid progress at this site.

“The team and our partners have worked tirelessly to ensure the vision for this project becomes a reality.

“This superhub shows what the future of EV charging can look like – reliable, rapid and powered entirely by green energy.”

Once complete, the hub will feature roof-mounted solar as well as a solar farm of almost 900 panels, feeding two on-site batteries with a total capacity of 4MWh.

It will also switch to renewable power from Octopus Energy where necessary.

More than 54,000 permeable blocks have now been delivered to the site, with 26,000 already laid.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Parco Civil Engineering & Groundworks.
