Miller Homes Southern takes on Winchester charity triathlon, raising funds for local hospice

A team from Miller Homes Southern channelled their inner Olympians by participating in a demanding charity triathlon in Winchester, combining cycling, kayaking, and running to raise funds for a local hospice.

Staff from the Basingstoke-based housebuilder rallied behind their team of four as they took on the Winchester Pedal, Paddle, Pace event, an annual race that spans 27km.

Starting and finishing at Palmers Field, the challenge included a 20km bike ride through the city streets, a 2km kayak along the River Itchen, and a 5km run beside the Itchen Canal.

The team—comprising Daryl Roberts, Lewis Jenkins, Phil Smith, and Matt Smith—completed the race in times ranging from one hour 31 minutes to one hour 38 minutes.

Their efforts raised £1,170 for Naomi House & Jacksplace, a hospice for children and young people in Sutton Scotney, which is the company’s chosen charity for the year.

David Brown, managing director of Miller Homes Southern, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement: “Daryl, Lewis, Phil, and Matt put in a tremendous effort, not only completing the course but doing so in great time.

“Their dedication has helped us raise over £1,100 for Naomi House, contributing to the vital services they provide.”

The housebuilder has raised over £8,100 for Naomi House & Jacksplace in 2024 and aims to surpass its initial target of £10,000 in the coming months.

Ella Clayton, corporate fundraiser at Naomi House & Jacksplace, praised the team’s efforts: “Congratulations to the Miller Homes Southern team for their hard work on completing Pedal, Paddle, Pace.

“The money raised will help fund essential care and support for our children, young adults, and their families, and we are grateful for their support.”

Miller Homes Southern is currently building new homes across Hampshire, Sussex, and Buckinghamshire.
