A major owner and operator of marinas has significantly expanded its Shamrock Quay marina in Southampton after buying up extra land.

MDL Marinas says the 3.2-acre plot in Lower William Street – acquired earlier this year – will be used for additional boat storage, manufacturing and boat sales.

The site, strategically located adjacent to the marina, is providing much-needed space to accommodate the growing demand for secure boat storage.

The expanded storage area has been enhanced with additional CCTV cameras as well as new power and water outlets, offering improved security and convenience for boat owners.

In addition to expanding storage, the new site – designated as Millstone Point – incorporates a large building with offices.

MDL plans to rent it out to potential tenants looking for prime office space within a marina setting.

Encompassing prime waterfront and deep-water access, an upgraded pontoon has also been installed at Millstone Point.

It can accommodate yachts up to 50 metres in length and is expected to attract visiting superyachts and other large vessels.

Other recent upgrades at Shamrock Quay include:

  • Pontoon replacement: A complete overhaul of H to K pontoons, ensuring modern and safe mooring facilities.
  • New pontoon access gate: A secure and user-friendly entrance gate for H & K pontoons, providing easy access for berth holders.
  • Road resurfacing: Key areas of the marina have undergone road resurfacing, improving traffic flow and access.
  • Lower-level car park surfacing: The lower-level car park has been resurfaced to provide better parking facilities.

MDL says the improvements demonstrate its commitment to providing high-quality facilities and maintaining Shamrock Quay’s reputation as one of the South Coast’s leading marinas.

To complement its expansion, MDL Marinas has launched a raft of exclusive winter offers at Shamrock Quay.

Tim Mayer, MDL’s Sales & Marketing Director, pictured left, said: “Our acquisition of land adjacent to Shamrock Quay earlier this year and the ongoing improvements demonstrate MDL’s dedication to expanding our offering and providing the best facilities for boat owners. ”

Other prime MDL locations in Hampshire include Hythe Marina Village, Ocean Village and Port Hamble Marina.
