Southampton’s Still & Bloom have made a £1,078 donation to Friends of PICU, who support the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton Children’s Hospital.
The artisan furniture makers held their ‘Giving Tuesday’ this November with a pledge to donate 20 per cent of the value of all orders to the charity.
“As a small, family business, we know what a difference having a sense of community makes and the difference even a small donation can make”, said Nick Fisher, Director of Still & Bloom.
“My son, Billy, was born nearly seven weeks prematurely. He spent a few days in PICU – it was an overwhelming and terrifying time.
“The staff were beyond amazing, and we couldn’t have gotten through it without them.
“We’re also the lucky ones, as Billy is now a very happy and healthy four-year-old. But it’s important that we give back.
“Our customers are also wonderful, and each and every one of them that bought an item from us on that day can know they’ve made a difference to the babies and children being treated on the intensive care unit in Southampton.”
Donations like this help to fund the specialist care which the PICU provides to children across the South of England and Channel Islands – whether that be new equipment, training or education.
Kerry Houghton from Friends of PICU came over to thank the team in person at their Southampton workshop.
“We’re always incredibly grateful for all the support and donations we receive, and we were absolutely delighted that Still and Bloom chose to support Friends of PICU”, she added.
“It’s a really busy time for the charity, and this donation will help us purchase some of the specialist equipment we are currently funding for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.”
