As work continues on the upcoming Winchester ‘superhub’ from EV charging operator InstaVolt, the firm has announced it will be partnering with Starbucks licensee Cobra Coffee.
Due to open in Spring 2025, the site – located at the Three Maids Hill junction off the A34 – will feature 44 charging bays, with accommodations for vans and towing vehicles.
This latest deal with Cobra Coffee marks the first on-site refreshment partnership for Basingstoke-based InstaVolt at any of its hubs.
“Our other superhubs are located at food and beverage locations or retail spaces, all of which have their own facilities for customers to refresh and recharge before they get back on the road,” said Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt.
“We’re delighted to work with globally recognised brands to be able to offer our drivers a great charging experience.
“In addition to the Starbucks cafe, amenities will include a children’s play area and toilets available 24/7, and families will be able to enjoy a break while the kids can stretch their legs in the play area.”
Mark Smith, group CEO of Cobra Coffee owners Southern Co-op, added: “We’re really excited to be bringing the Starbucks experience to the UK’s largest rapid EV superhub, creating 14 new jobs and playing our part in decarbonising travel.
“We have a real ambition across all our businesses to act on climate change, so alongside access to renewable and fast charging, our site will be built to high environmental standards.”
