Local bus operator First Solent has renewed its partnership with Portsmouth Football Club (Pompey) for the second consecutive year, focusing on promoting public transport as a sustainable travel option for fans attending games at Fratton Park.

The collaboration kicks off with a celebration of Catch the Bus Month, which runs throughout September, encouraging people to use the bus as an accessible and environmentally-friendly mode of transport. Portsmouth goalkeeper, Will Norris, will help with the festivities by leading a matchday ‘ticket hunt’, giving fans the chance to win tickets to the Portsmouth vs Sheffield United game on 28 September.

Fans travelling to the stadium on First Solent’s Service 1 on 15 September can enter the competition by saying “Catch the Bus Month” to their driver. Three winners will each receive a pair of match tickets.

Throughout September, First Solent is offering free bus travel within the Portsmouth city boundary every weekend, giving fans attending the home matches on 15 and 28 September a cost-free journey to Fratton Park. These services, including the newly introduced electric buses on the Service 1 route, are part of the operator’s commitment to greener transport.

Additionally, First Solent is offering discounted Group Day tickets for five people at £10 (usually £16), available across their Hampshire routes for the entire month.

James Eustace, Commercial Director at First Solent, said: “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Portsmouth FC for another season. Our collaboration has been a great success, and we’re excited to provide fans with a seamless travel experience while promoting sustainability in the community.”

Mark Judges, Director of Sales at Portsmouth FC, added: “Renewing our partnership with First Solent for another three seasons is exciting. First Solent’s eco-friendly transport options help ease congestion around Fratton Park, and we’re proud to work with them on this initiative.”

To follow the ticket hunt and get involved, fans can check out First Solent’s social media or visit their website for more details.
