Solent Partners are launching a series of skills bootcamps offering participants free and flexible training across a variety of industries to help develop their careers.
They’ve partnered with a number of organisations to provide courses in digital marketing, maritime transport and logistics, care services, business skills for creatives, green skills, and catering and hospitality.
The scheme also gives employers the opportunity to retrain and upskill their staff, as well as fill vacancies.
Rachael Randall, Chair of Solent Partners said: “This is a fantastic opportunity which will enable the Solent workforce to flourish, and ultimately support our economic growth.
“These courses have been co-designed with employers to respond to skills shortages in the region, and we plan to offer the region’s workforce the right support to thrive in these fast-developing industries.
“If you’re an employer wanting to futureproof your workforce and develop your existing talent, or if you’re self-employed or unemployed looking for new opportunities, please get in touch to register your interest.”
Training providers for the programme include YTKO, South Hampshire College Group, Isle of Wight College, Yuzu Training, Whitehead-Ross Education and the University of Portsmouth.
It’s been made possible by a £1.2 million grant from the Department of Education.
Ian Ross, CEO of Whitehead-Ross, added: “We’re delighted to be working with Solent Partners to support local jobseekers to access local opportunities in hospitality supervision and leadership roles.
“Over the next six months, we’ll be supporting 40 jobseekers from across the Solent.”
