A Fordingbridge hotel has been named as the Best Boutique Hotel in the New Forest.
The Railway Hotel was unveiled as one of the winners of the Best of British Getaways Awards 2023.
Organised by SME News, the awards showcase tourism businesses ranging from tour operators to wellness spa resorts and cycling retreats.
The Railway Hotel was originally opened in the 1860s by Dorchester brewer, Eldridge Pope.
It served Fordingbridge Railway Station, one of the stops on the newly-built Salisbury and Dorset Railway.
The hotel has been restored to its elegant Victorian form, celebrating the golden age of the railway.
The establishment has five distinctive ensuite rooms and a self-contained two-bedroom cottage, all set around a courtyard that still retains the original livery stables.
