Big plans in store for Winchester’s historic city centre with arrival of new development director

igloo, the developer responsible for the Central Winchester Regeneration project, has made a new hire to bolster its presence in the South of England.

Matt Woolgar joins the company as development director, having previously worked as project director at Hadley Property Group and director of development for CA Ventures.

The new role sees Matt taking charge of the igloo team to lead them through the full acquisition, design, planning, procurement, construction, and sales phases of the development cycle.

In terms of the Winchester regeneration scheme, this will involve new workspaces, bars and restaurants, a hotel, and green public spaces – ultimately making for a mixed-use, sustainable, pedestrian-friendly city centre.

Matt said: “I am delighted to be joining igloo at such an exciting time for the business.

“I am already impressed with the level of creativity and shared value of doing well by doing good.

“I can see it is a point of principle that motivates the whole team, and I look forward to being part of it.”

The scope of his role isn’t just limited to Winchester. igloo is also overseeing a housing scheme in Swindon, and with Matt on board, Director John Long is hoping to expand their growing portfolio in and around Hampshire.

This comes after igloo was acquired by PfP Capital earlier this year at the conclusion of a five-year joint venture partnership.
